Holy Land Bazaar features the beautiful woven cloth backpacks and handbags from the Anter workshop in the Druze village of Dalyat El Carmel, in northern Israel.
Anter is a family business founded in 1970 that produces unique, woven bags, pillows, table runners, tablecloths and fashion wear.
The words Ha Hamsa, are written on this bag, this translates to "The Hamsa" (literally "five") and is the Middle Eastern symbol for good luck used in amulets, charms and jewelry. Some people believe it offers protection from the "evil eye". Tradition holds that it will provide the owner wealth, good fortune and good health.
This is an unusually patterned, cotton blend, woven bag that is durable and machine washable. Fully lined, it has 2 zippered pockets in the front and it closes on top with a zipper as well. It is rhomboid in shape and is tapered towards the top.
The material, woven on site in the workshop, will stand the test of time. Besides the hamsa, the pattern shows a fish symbol and 2 peacocks and wheat. It is just perfect for shopping or even going to the beach.
